- Last Weekend - Owner - Marc Sommers had the honor of Participating in the GA Organics "Farmers Feast". The Dinner is part of the GA Organic Conference - this year held in Athens GA - and was attended by over 1,000 people. The Guest Speaker was Carlo Petrini - the Director of Slow Food international based out of Italy. His speech was an inspiration to all of us who enjoy locally produced foods and products - and his affinity for Collard Greens can be admired by any GA resident. A large thanks for GA Organics and Mr. Petrini for their continued commitment to providing "good food for all".
It was an honor to cook amongst some of Atlanta's most groundbreaking and active chefs. Chef Sommers prepared a Russian Beet Salad inspired by the one his mother in law makes (and son loves) as well as his Sweet Potato Gnocchi with Blue Cheese Alfredo. Chef Sommers got his start in the "Classic City" - working the line at Depalma's Downtown and at the then new Five Star Day Cafe - so it was a nice homecoming. Our Pastry Chef - Larita Knight - also made a sweet potato pie for dessert.
Also a big thanks to Hugh Acheson and his team from Five and Ten - for hosting and organizing the dinner.

February 28th - 2010:
- On Friday - I had the good fortune of touring Tree Sound Studios in Norcross. Tree Sound is the award winning studio run by Paul Diaz and his wife Sunshine Diaz. The studio is at the forefront of music recording and is a innovator in the use of green technology. See there website here for a meter that reads how much energy their solar array is producing - amazing! Tree Sound has recorded the likes of Usher, Outkast, Gwen Stefani and more...
Paul and Sunshine have also started Rock Star Farms - I got a sample of their harvest and it was some of the tastiest greens I have had. I look forward to more of their veggies in the coming weeks and months.
